Important Community Updates from The Southern Oaks HOA

We are once again entering that season of the year when signs start appearing in homeowners' yards. It could be a contractor sign, a vendor sign, or (our personal favorite) ... POLITICAL SIGNS!!

Article VI, Section 1(L) of the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions states the following: "No sign of any kind shall be displayed to the public view on any lot except one sign of not more than five (5) square feet advertising the property for sale or rent ..." It is very clear the original developer's intention was to restrict displaying of signs of any kind other than "For Sale" or "For Rent."

Since the recording of our governing documents, state law has been passed which provides that for public safety reasons, we must allow small signs posted by security companies. The law also requires that we allow your lawn treatment company to post a small sign in your yard for a couple of days after treating your lawn.

So please do not display political signs of any sort in your yard. A better plan is to be sure to get to the polls and vote for the candidate of your choice!

Grass Maintenance Reminder

As we continue to maintain the beauty of our community, please remember to blow grass clippings off the sidewalk after mowing. These clippings mustn't be blown into the street or sewer, as this can lead to clogging and result in additional maintenance costs, ultimately impacting our HOA fees.

Community Clean-Up Event: 2024 STARKEY BLVD CLEANUP

Join us for our next community clean-up event on September 21st, 2024. This will be our 3rd scheduled clean-up for the year, and it's a great opportunity to meet your neighbors while keeping our community beautiful.

Time: Meet at 9 am
Location: Corner of Starkey Blvd and Alico

As part of our commitment to continually improve our community, we're pleased to share some exciting updates on ongoing projects that are making Southern Oaks an even better place to live.

Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvement

You may have noticed the teams hard at work in our neighborhood recently. We're currently in the process of replacing the culvert pipes throughout Southern Oaks.

This crucial project is aimed at improving drainage during the stormy season, ensuring that we have a safe, dry, and resilient community that can withstand the elements.

Implementing this upgrade progressively also brings a considerable advantage. It allows us to manage expenses effectively and avoid any unexpected costs associated with emergency repairs or forced compliance. We understand how important this is for our homeowners, and we strive to ensure financial stability and predictability while maintaining and enhancing our shared spaces.Your understanding and patience during the period of this essential upgrade is greatly appreciated.

Call for Volunteers: Flagpole Mulching Project

As we strive to keep our community looking its best, we turn our attention to the emblematic flagpole area. We are seeking volunteers to assist with a mulching project that will enhance its aesthetics while also aiding soil health and plant life.

We'd be thrilled to have you join us. It's a great way to contribute to our neighborhood, get to know your neighbors, and enjoy the great outdoors.
